Our Story
GinnyPix was built on 20 years of mobile app development — and an obsession with making photo and video tools feel as good as they look. Years later, millions of creators use our apps every day.
Timeline
Nick begins his journey in mobile app development — long before the App Store even existed. Building across early mobile platforms, he develops a passion for crafting software that feels intuitive and beautiful on small screens.
GinnyPix is founded in Finland and ships its first app, GoFix — correcting the fisheye distortion in drone shots captured with action cameras. The mission is set: make photo and video apps that feel as good as they look.
The vintage camera era begins. KD Pro brings the 90s disposable camera experience to iPhone, while Kuji Cam delivers advanced vintage photography on Android.
We launch KUNI Cam — a complete vintage photo editor with 80+ filters, grain, dust overlays, and the first version of our custom recipe system. It hits the top charts in Finland within weeks.
KUNI Cam reaches 1 million downloads. We localize into Finnish, Swedish, and a dozen other languages. The vintage aesthetic resonates with creators worldwide.
We bring KUNI's film aesthetic to video. Apply the same filters, grain, and light leaks to your footage. A whole new way to create cinematic content.
AirBox and more join the GinnyPix family. Each app carrying the same obsessive attention to craft and simplicity.
PicNav is released — pinpoint locations easily from your photos. Built for hunters, sports fishermen, and mushroom pickers who need to find their way back to the right spot.
Video Stopwatch is released — slow-motion analysis for sports events. Frame-accurate timekeeping straight from your videos, no timing hardware needed.
MediaCrunch is released — fast, powerful media compression and conversion. Shrink photos and videos without sacrificing quality, right on your phone.
OneRoll and RaceTimer launch — a digital disposable camera and a precision race timing app. GinnyPix expands beyond photography into new categories.
Calorie Buddy is released — an AI-powered nutrition tracker that logs your meal from a single photo. GinnyPix brings its camera expertise into health, with instant calorie and macro tracking.
Focal X arrives — a RAW photo and video camera built for professional shooting. Full manual control, beautiful portrait bokeh, and timeless film looks for creators who demand the most from their phone's camera.
What we stand for
We'd rather ship one great thing than three mediocre things. Every pixel, every interaction, every filter is considered. Good work takes time — and that's okay.
No dark patterns. No manipulative paywalls. No fake ratings prompts. We build apps we're proud of and charge a fair price for them. That's the whole deal.
Every feature we build starts with a real creative problem. We use our own apps constantly — that's what keeps us honest about what actually matters.
Founder
Founder & Designer, GinnyPix
"I started GinnyPix because I wanted an iPhone camera app that felt the way old film photographs look — a little imperfect, deeply nostalgic, completely honest.
I didn't set out to build a company. I set out to build something I'd actually use. Two decades later, millions of people use our apps every day, and I still feel that same pull to make them better.
We're a small team. We work slowly and carefully. We care deeply about what we ship. And we're just getting started."
